Your Role in Compliance

Staff, Faculty, and Students

  • Understand and adhere to applicable university policies, codes of conduct, and local/state/federal regulations
  • Participate in mandatory compliance training sessions and refreshers
  • Stay informed about changes in university policies or compliance-related updates
  • Protect sensitive data and maintain confidentiality according to university and legal guidelines
  • Report potential violations, unethical behavior, or non-compliance concerns via
  • Practice ethical decision-making  grounded in integrity and doing the right thing
  • Foster an inclusive, respectful and ethical environment

Compliance Partners

  • Act as a liaison with the compliance office
  • Raise awareness of compliance policies in assigned areas
  • Develop and deliver relevant training
  • Assist with compliance initiatives
  • Identify and mitigate specific compliance risks
  • Monitor adherence to university policies
  • Provide feedback on compliance programs and suggest improvements
  • Coordinate compliance audits as necessary

Policy, Compliance and Internal Controls Office

  • Provide resources to help the university community understand their compliance responsibilities
  • Deliver issue- or project-specific compliance assistance and advice to compliance partners
  • Develop assessment tools to evaluate compliance risks
  • Conduct regular risk assessments to identify and address potential areas of risk and non-compliance
  • Communicate updates and changes in university policies
  • Promote training for compliance areas and help identify gaps
  • Foster a culture of compliance, ethics, and accountability throughout the institution
