UBbox Terms of Use

UBbox is a web-based file service tool available to authorized members of the University at Buffalo. UBbox users should be familiar with these Terms of Use, which govern access to and use of the UBbox service, and constitute a legally binding agreement by the user and the University at Buffalo.

Description

UBbox is an easy way to collaborate and store files. It is cloud-based and accessible from multiple devices. As a university service, UBbox is subject to the terms of the Computing, Network and Telecommunications Usage Policy. UB reserves the right to remove or limit access to material posted on university services when applicable campus or university policies or codes, contractual obligations, or state or federal laws are violated. However, UB does not otherwise monitor the content of material posted on university services.

Storage of HIPAA regulated data and Category 1 Restricted Data (see Data Risk Classification Policy) in UBbox must adhere to the following guidelines: and . Failure to follow these guidelines is expressly prohibited and considered a violation of the Terms of Use.

UBbox is prohibited for all content subject to . Copyrighted material should adhere to the requirements of applicable copyright laws.

UBbox is restricted to academic or university-related use. The retention policy for deleted items is thirty (30) days. The university requires compliance with its Record Retention and Disposition Policy for specific periods of time in accordance with federal, state, and other legal and institutional requirements.

Upon separation from the university, UBbox accounts are terminated after notification to the user in accordance with established policies. Any collaborative documents in personal space will no longer be available and all account content and links will expire as part of the standard deactivation process.

Eligibility

UBbox services are restricted to active UB faculty, staff, and students. UBbox services are not available to alumni, retirees, or individuals with volunteer appointments. Access is granted upon login to the service. Upon separation from the university, UBbox accounts will be terminated after notification to the individual in accordance with established policies, which are available at: .

Inappropriate use of the UBbox service may be reported to abuse@buffalo.edu.

Files stored on UBbox may be subject to the requests for access and may need to be preserved to meet e-discovery requirements as outlined in the .
