Minor in Communication

A minor in Communication is a great complement to any major, helping students improve interpersonal skills, media literacy and critical thinking—valuable in any career path.

Requirements

To complete the minor, students must take 6 courses (18 credit hours) and meet the following criteria:

Core Courses (6 credits)

  • Principles of Communication
  • One additional 200-level COM course (minimum grade of C)

Advanced Courses (12 credits)

  • Four 300- or 400-level COM courses (3 credits each)

GPA Requirements

  • 2.0 GPA averaged across the two lower-level courses
  • 2.5 overall GPA in all minor coursework

Additional Guidelines

  • A maximum of two transfer courses (3 credits each) may be applied.
  • No more than two pass-fail courses may count toward the minor.
  • Students must declare the minor no later than the beginning of their senior year.
