Advisement

Your academic success starts with great advising.

At UB, we want to help you reach your goals—so connecting with your advisor early and often is key. Your advisor is your go-to resource for course planning, major requirements and career prep.

Pro Tip: Complete your required (core) communication courses early to stay on track for graduation.

Note: UB policy allows you to retake a class only once to replace a low or failing grade. If you struggle in a core class, work closely with your advisor to make sure you pass on your second attempt. Students who do not pass a core class after two tries will need to select a new major.

Make the most of advising

  • Bring your DARS report to every advising appointment
  • See your advisor before registration or at the end of each semester
  • Address questions or concerns directly with your advisor first
  • For course concerns, start with your instructor, then Azita, then Dr. Rintamaki, and finally Dr. Green if needed

Stay in the loop

Are you receiving important listserv emails from the department?
If not, email Azita Safaie with your UBIT username and ask to be added. This keeps you informed about key updates, deadlines, and opportunities.
