Exploratory Students Readiness Summer 2025 Series

  • Stay connected with your EPAC advisor throughout the summer months and connect with other exploratory students! 
  • New students and families are welcome to attend all three sessions focusing on three areas of readiness to successfully transition to UB. 
  • EPAC new students who attend at least two of the following sessions have a chance to win a prize!  

Part 1: Preparing for My Advising Appointment and Class Schedule

Hear examples of several UB students who either discovered their major by following their interests or changed their initial choice after gaining new experiences. Learn about UB resources such as PathwayU, informational interviews and how to use the to explore majors of interest. Gain an understanding of typical first-semester courses and receive answers to questions to help you best prepare for your advising appointment and first semester UB schedule.

Part 2: Understanding My Class Schedule and Successfully Utilizing Navigate

Gain a basic understanding of key information, common UB vocabularly and frequently asked questions as an enrolled exploratory student. From class types to credit loads to important deadlines, learn how to stay organized in college by using helpful tools like the UB Navigate app. 

Part 3: Social and Emotional Preparedness for College

Finding a sense of belonging during a time of transition is crucial. Additionally, embracing change and ambiguity as opportunities for growth are equally important as an exploratory student. Attend to learn various coping mechanisms, self-care practices and the value of building positive relationships as a way to ensure student success.
