Daniel Acker Scholars Program

Preparing exceptional students to soar.

Dear Acker Scholars,

To our prospective Acker Scholars, we’re excited to meet you at one of the UB Accepted Students Day receptions on April 6 or April 26!

To our current Acker Scholars, we look forward to connecting with you during the remainder of the Spring 2025 semester.

We can’t wait to see you soon!

Overview

The Daniel Acker Scholars Program is a unique, individualized learning community of academically talented and diverse students who have strong commitment to social justice, leadership and community service. Here, students find a robust culture of acceptance and inclusion, where scholars are encouraged to embrace all aspects of their social identities on the path to becoming well-rounded people.

Acker Scholars are selected to participate in the program at their point of admission to UB, and they receive opportunities and the support needed to maximize their college experience, from enrollment to graduation and beyond.

Acker Scholars in Action: Stories of Growth and Success

What We Do

  • Plan programs and workshops that highlight the multicultural diversity within the Acker Scholars program, helping students to fully embrace their unique individuality.
  • Teach students how to build positive working relationships with faculty through one-on-one advising sessions, workshops, programs and assignments.
  • Organize community service projects that help students develop an appreciation for helping their local communities and understanding of the needs of the residents that live in Buffalo and Western New York. By giving back through service, Acker Scholars have the chance to see firsthand the impact that their efforts have within the community.

Through a unique educational experience, the Daniel Acker Scholars Program prepares exceptional students to be future leaders in their chosen field of study.
