Incoming freshman or undergraduate transfer applicants who are interested in pursuing mathematics must first apply and be accepted to the University at Buffalo.
When applying, you should indicate your intended major on the application form.

BA in Mathematics
- Mathematics BA - General Curriculum in Mathematics
This is the basic liberal arts major program in mathematics. It is well suited for students who want to pursue mathematics as their second major. Students who consider mathematics their main interest should consider other math major concentrations that offer more extensive training and better defined career options. - Mathematics BA - Pure Mathematics Concentration
Basic theoretical course of study for mathematics majors intending graduate study in mathematics or a related field. - Mathematics BA - Applied Mathematics Concentration
Mathematics major for intended graduate study in applied mathematics; for students planning a career and/or graduate study in applied mathematics. - Mathematics BA - Mathematics Education Concentration
For the student whose career goal is to attain a master's degree for professional certification in adolescent mathematics education; may be coupled with a minor in teacher education. - Mathematics BA - Computing and Applied Mathematics Concentration
Mathematics major with a concentration in computing and applied mathematics; designed for students interested in careers in applying mathematics or doing scientific programming.
