UNIVERSITY AT BUFFALO: REPORTER for May 22,1997

A proposal to delay a final decision on the reorganization of the arts and sciences at UB until at least Oct. 1 to allow a formal review of the issue by the Faculty Senate was the topic of lively discussion at the group's May 13 meeting.


Now just a big hole in the ground in Texas, the SSC would have been the most powerful particle accelerator in the world well into the 21st century. It was to be funded with $8 billion of taxpayer money.


If UB's Educational Opportunity Program didn't exist, Barbara Abad might not have accepted the Dean's Award for the Faculty of Arts and Letters on Sunday at the university's 151st general commencement ceremony.
