UB researchers are partnering with community in Alaska as part of a $300,000 grant from the NOAA Climate Program Office. Through this project, they hope to understand how climate change may impact Buffalo in a part of the country where those effects are already occurring and to adapt housing while supporting people in their homes.

A UB-led study has identified a strain of bacteria capable of breaking down multiple types of "forever chemicals" (PFAS) and their toxic byproducts, offering a potential breakthrough in environmental remediation.

UB faculty, led by Susan Spierre Clark and Nick Rajkovich, are collaborating with PUSH Buffalo through a $20 million EPA-funded initiative to address extreme weather and energy efficiency challenges in Buffalo's aging housing stock by creating Neighborhood Mobilization Hubs and enhancing community resilience and workforce training.
