Students with disabilities praise assistive technology using AI

A story in  reporting that students with disabilities are praising assistive technology that uses AI notes that the National Science Foundation is providing financial support for AI research and development, including UB’s National AI Institute for Exceptional Education. The institute is creating tools specifically for children with speech and language difficulties. UB Vice President for Research and Economic Development Venu Govindaraju notes that speech-to-text technology has challenges when it comes to understanding children’s voices, particularly if they have speech issues or if their handwriting isn’t clear.
