A Reuters article reports on research by Dietrich Jehle, professor and vice chair of emergency medicine, that showed that obese drivers may be at a strikingly higher risk of dying in a car crash than normal-weight drivers because they frequently fail to buckle their seatbelts. “Cars should be designed so it’s easier to put a seatbelt on if you’re obese,” he said. The article appeared in news outlets that include the Chicago Tribune, Baltimore Sun, WTBX-FM in Minnesota, Yahoo! News, Orlando Sentinel, Global Post and Fox News.
