The (UBCFA) presents legendary jazz artist on Sunday, Nov. 2, 2025 at 7 p.m. Tickets go on sale April 4 and will be available online at , or at the UBCFA Ticket Office.

Now in his seventh decade of his professional life, Hancock remains at the forefront of world culture, technology, business and music. A true icon, Hancock’s storied career has earned him 14 Grammy Awards, an Academy Award, a Kennedy Center Honor and a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award. Known for his innovative approach to music, his “Head Hunters” album became the first jazz recording to go platinum.  

Hancock has been an integral part of every popular music movement since the ‘60’s. As a member of the Miles Davis Quintet, which pioneered a groundbreaking sound in jazz, he also developed new approaches to his own recordings that continues to influence contemporary music, combining electric jazz with funk and rock. There are few musicians who have had more influence on acoustic and electronic jazz and R&B than Hancock. As Miles Davis said in his autobiography, “Herbie was the step after Bud Powell and Thelonious Monk and I haven’t heard anybody yet who has come after him.”

Currently the Creative Chair for Jazz for the Los Angeles Philharmonic Association, Hancock was a child prodigy who performed a Mozart piano concerto with the Chicago Symphony at age 11. From that Mozart concerto to collaborations with artists such as Joni Mitchell, Stevie Wonder, Paul Simon, Chick Corea and Carlos Santana, Hancock’s talent and versatility as a musician is incomparable.
