Deep-seated hurt, sadness and anger that George Floyd’s murder evoked cannot be wiped away with the reading of a guilty verdict, UB president says in message to campus community.
Colleges and universities testing at least 25% of their total on-campus students, faculty and staff weekly – which UB is doing – will not be required to go on pause unless their positivity rate exceeds 5% during a rolling 14-day period.
Additional information about the South Campus vaccination site, including a specific building location and hours of operation, will be provided at a later date.
UB has reached the threshold of 100 on-campus positive COVID-19 cases, but will continue with in-person instruction until the Thanksgiving break in order to complete surveillance testing of on-campus students.
On-campus gatherings will now be limited to 10 people, in-person student clubs and activities will be suspended, and campus dining and food service operations will offer takeout service only beginning Thursday, Nov. 19. Fall sports will continue.
In consultation with the Erie County health department, SUNY and the New York State Department of Health, UB intends to maintain in-person instruction as scheduled.
UB closely monitoring an increase in COVID-19 cases among the UB community, which mirrors the uptick seen across Erie County, where UB’s three campuses are located.
