The Master of Science in Accounting degree program is designed for accounting students or professionals who have completed an undergraduate accounting degree from a U.S. college or university, and who seek to enhance their technical and professional skills through completion of an advanced degree in accounting. The one-year, full-time curriculum, together with most undergraduate accounting programs, should satisfy the 150-hour educational requirement for certification and licensure as a certified public accountant (CPA). The Graduate Affordable Housing Advanced Certificate is designed for individuals with an earned bachelor's degree and interested in gaining further knowledge about issues facing affordable housing in the United States. In the U. S., the pervasiveness of affordability problems among lower-income renters is primarily due to the shortage of appropriately priced housing and the low and decreasing incomes of renters. 

The Aerospace Engineering MS program equips students with the skills and knowledge necessary to take on leadership roles in the aerospace industry and associated sectors. The combined BA/MA in anthropology-medical anthropology concentration program is an accelerated five-year track for students interested in pursuing careers in the health professions requiring an advanced degree. Anthropology majors who meet the eligibility requirements may apply to the MA in anthropology-medical anthropology concentration during the spring semester of their junior year. Upon acceptance into the program, students incorporate graduate coursework beginning in their senior year.

This certificate program will provide an intensive training on biostatistical methodology and data analysis skills. Upon completion, students will be equipped with statistical knowledge and programming techniques needed for analyzing data from a variety of sources such as clinical trials, observational studies and laboratory studies. This certificate program is targeted towards people who have already obtained their terminal degree (e.g., MD or PhD) and would like additional professional development outlets.

This certificate recognizes the importance of quantitative methodology for conducting scientific research and for guiding evidence-based practice in any field, but in particular the field of education. This advanced certificate provides a foundation from which you may pursue either doctoral studies or a career as a researcher whose job entails analyzing statistical data. The combined BA/MS program is a research-intensive degree program. Students enrolled in the program integrate laboratory and classroom learning experiences. The special master’s program (SMP) is a graduate level post-baccalaureate, and has an 80 percent success rate in getting its graduates accepted into health-related programs. Students are paired with an advisor, and together they create a curriculum plan unique to the student’s goals. Students may register in courses, pursue a research project under the instruction of a faculty member outside of our department, and may complete the program in a timeline that suits their ability. The SMP is also valuable for students looking to explore career options across multiple disciplines, and those who want to try graduate research before committing to a program.

This STEM program focuses on synthetic and natural materials in biomedical engineering and dentistry. Courses and research provide comprehensive knowledge of and experience with materials, focusing on biomolecular and cellular interactions with medical/dental implants, device design, regulatory requirements, and surgical requirements. Applicants to this program typically include biologists, engineers, chemists and clinicians. The Biotechnology Master of Science degree program provides students with advanced coursework in biotechnical and biomolecular sciences. Graduates are prepared for positions in research, and industrial research and development laboratories, sales/technical representation in biotechnology, chemical or pharmaceutical companies, or to advance to PhD programs related to biomedical sciences. A research project resulting in a thesis must be completed in the laboratory of one of the program faculty or by special arrangement, with faculty in other departments who are affiliated with the Department of Biotechnical and Clinical Laboratory Sciences.

The Child Health Nurse Practitioner (Post-MS) to DNP program is designed for specialty-certified, advanced-practice nurses to complete in a part-time and online format. The program prepares advanced-practice nurses to apply the latest evidence-based science to improve clinical practice outcomes. Specifically, the Post-MS to DNP program provides new knowledge in informatics, health policy, leadership, program evaluation and generation of evidence-based knowledge to enhance practice outcomes at the individual, population, and system levels. The program culminate in a capstone project that is designed to address gaps in practice.

Early childhood and childhood education EdM programs are available for those who wish to pursue a bilingual specialization/extension. The programs are suitable for students who wish to obtain New York State certification to teach bilingual students birth through sixth grade, who already have initial teacher certification before entering the program, and who aspire to complete both a master's degree in bilingual education and childhood education, or early childhood certification requirements.

Our Civil, Structural and Environmental Engineering department has a strong reputation for excellence both nationally and internationally. The 30-credit-hour Civil Engineering MS program provides students with the fundamental knowledge and technical skills needed to chart a path of discovery and creativity that makes a tangible impact in the natural and built environments. The Department of Classics offers graduate courses in Greek and Latin languages, Greco-Roman history, and classical archaeology. MA students choose one of three concentrations: classics (for students with an advanced level of Latin and Greek), ancient history (emphasis on ancient history and material culture) and the MA in Latin (for students with an advanced level of Latin who are preparing to teach Latin in secondary schools or to apply for a PhD program in classics).

The MS program in Computational Cell Biology, Anatomy and pathology provides research training in biological form and function, the quantitative analysis of biological structure science and the modeling of biological systems. Our faculty are engaged in cell and developmental biology, bioimaging and neuroscience, with a strong emphasis on computational approaches that can derive unique insight from complex data sets. The Computational Cell Biology, Anatomy and Pathology PhD program is a unique connector between the basic and clinical sciences. New technology has enabled tools for examination of biological structure in both macroscopic and microscopic worlds, and has facilitated powerful computational approaches for integrating those data with other modes including molecular, genetic, and biochemical information. The combined Counseling Psychology/School Psychology PhD program is accredited by the APA (750 First St., NE, Washington, D.C. 20002-4242, 202-336-5979), and adheres to the scientist-practitioner model of training. To be eligible to apply for an LLM program, you need to have already completed a first degree in law, such as an LLB, a Licenciado, etc. The Criminal Law LLM builds on our strength in the interdisciplinary study of criminal law and the work of the Buffalo Criminal Law Center. Our Criminal Law LLM was the first of its kind in the United States and continues to be one of the only such programs.

The MS in criminology is an online degree program that focuses on the nature and causes of crime, characteristics and behaviors of people who commit crime and who are affected by crime, how law enforcement agencies and criminal justice systems work, how society reacts to crime, victims, and people who commit crime, and connections between crime and other social institutions (such as work, schools, media, etc.).
