29 Faculty Members Join 12 Medical School Departments

Twenty-nine faculty members with a variety of clinical and research experience — representing 12 medical school departments — have joined the  over the past several months.

Andrew Baumgartner.

Andrew D. Baumgartner, MD

, is a clinical assistant professor of .

His research focus is on aging, medical education and medication safety.

Baumgartner completed a  at the  at the University at Buffalo, during which he completed supplementary training in medical education via completion of the academic tract, developing a point-of-care ultrasound curriculum for the program.

He also held the role of academic chief resident, designing and implementing a year-long grand rounds lecture series.

Baumgartner obtained his  from the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, graduating with research honors.

Frederick Elliott.

Frederick M. Elliott, MD

, is a clinical assistant professor of . He is board certified in family medicine and addiction medicine.

He completed residencies in family medicine at the Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center/University at Buffalo and in pediatrics at the New York University School of Medicine.

Elliott obtained his  from the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences.

Sarah Sonenberg.

Sarah N. Sonenberg, MD

, is a clinical instructor-academic scholar in the .

She completed a  and  at the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences.

Sonenberg obtained her  from the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, graduating summa cum laude.

, is an assistant professor of .

His research focuses on bioinformatics, neuroscience, sports medicine and traumatic brain injury.

Haider obtained his medical degree from Dow Medical College and his  from the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences.

He also received an advanced study certificate in applied statistics from UB’s School of Public Health and Health Professions.

He completed a fellowship in toxicology and a residency in emergency medicine, both at the UMass Chan Medical School.
